About Us: I have had great luck in my sales through "GUNS INTERNATIONAL". This is the only site I use and do not plan to change.

Description:
This is a Factory Error percussion revolver of the 1849 model and is inscribed on the back strap "H.F. Austin, Peoria, Ill." There are several candidates for this revolver. One is Henry Austin, listed as a surgeon in Headquarters Company of the 13th IL Cavalry whose residence is listed as Princeton, IL approximately 50 miles from Peoria.  There was also a Henry Austin listed in the muster rolls of the 2nd IL light Artillery which was organized in Peoria.  The third would be Henry Austin from Virden, IL and a letter is included about his service. The gun comes with a Walnut case which includes a Dixon & Sons powder flask, Colt's patent dual cavity bullet mold and cap tin. The metal is lightly pitted in places and has been cleaned. The principal lettering, numbers and designs on the metal are legible. Much of the silver plate remains and all numbers match. The "Colt's Patent" is missing from the left front of the frame. This is the factory error and it is very rare for this to be absent.  It has a New York address.
