Description:
"

NSN, circa 1780s-1790s, approximately .80 caliber, 41.75"" round smoothbore barrel. This is a unique example of a Federal Period assembled flintlock musket with a post Revolutionary War surcharged lock plate circa 1783-1794. Metal and iron parts are smooth dark grey patina, that lightens up toward the touch hole, heavy oxidation is noted. Square end brass trigger guard is popular on American long arms (1750-1800s) Lock plate is marked with post Revolutionary War ""US"" and resembles of a French or Ketland style.  Stock is 53"" in length pinned in barrel, scattered dings, scratched and nicks are present with a crack noted rear of the lock plate and towards the front pipe. Edges are rounded from handling use. Brass butt plate resembles that of Hessian style. Action functions correctly, a unique example of Federal Longarm.
