Lock and barrel tang with original “1822” date and lock with standard Springfield Armory markings. Stock with two Federal flintlock era Ordnance cartouches. Excellent condition with beautiful grey-brown crisp metal patina and stock with near all the original finish and mint cartouches. Barrel alteration to carbine absolutely genuine and Arsenal altered of the period probably at the Richmond Armory. Original ramrod from the time of the alteration.
