Description:
What a handsome Scottish hammergun! Joseph Harkom & Son serial number 1210 was made by this famous Scottish maker in Edinburgh in 1871. Number 1 of a pair. Rebarreled by the maker(serial number 2395) in 1904 with 30” nitro steel it has rebounding hammers, extractors and double triggers. Weight 6lb 10oz. Nicely cased in a leather case with maker’s label, charge card, snap caps, mahogany cleaning rod, nipple wrench, and wedge forend fastener removal tool. Restored by the late Cyril Adams when he was the owner of AG&L. ***   The 30” nitro steel barrels are chambered for 2-3/4” cartridges. Bores are shiny and bright. The right barrel is bored 0.730 with a constriction of 0.004 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026. The left barrel is bored 0.730 with a constriction of 0.017 for Light Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.028. Perfect choking for clays or game. Topped with a raised solid concave game style rib inscribed “Harkom & Son  Edinburgh”.   ***   The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are made from an exquisite highly figured piece of French walnut. The dimensions are 15” including a 1” brown leather pad by 1-1/2” by 2-1/4”. Cast off for the right hand shooter. There are a few minor handling marks from normal usage on the stock and forearm. The tip of the “ear’ on the right hammer was broken but has been expertly repaired.   ***   If you’ve ever been on a Scottish grouse moor you already know why you should own this gun.   ***   Please note that the photographs are part of the description.
