We normally ship USPS Priority Mail which should be 2-day ship. Shipping is actual cost with a minimum of $30.00 for pistols and $50.00 for rifles/shotguns to ship to most of the 48 contiguous states. Shipping to Alaska may require an extra fee. Shipping insurance is available upon request for an extra fee. We cannot do international sales. As of November 2019, we no longer ship guns to California and Hawaii.

Description:
The Iver Johnson Eagle XL-45 is an out-of-the-box target grade pistol intended for use pistol competition. Chambered for the classic .45 ACP, the XL-45 uses the classic 1911A1 grip frame for ease of use and parts compatibility. What makes it stand out is the slide and barrel. The XL-45 uses a 6-inch-long barrel to achieve target-grade accuracy. While most 6-inch 1911s are rather expensive the XL-45 is made to be more affordable. A longer slide and barrel reduces muzzle flip while firing and increases accuracy. The frame is made from 1045 steel, while the slide uses 4140 steel. The bore uses conventional rifling and uses the universal 1:16 inches right-hand twist common to 1911 pistols. Internally, the XL-45 is based on the Series 70 1911. While the barrel and slide are specific to the model, the recoil spring, guide, and plug are all GI-spec. The ejection port is both lowered and flared for better ejection of spent cases. The slide stop and thumb safety are extended for easier operation. The rear sight is an LPA-manufactured TRT type which is fully adjustable. A conventional dovetailed white dot sight in front completes the sight setup. The 3-hole trigger generally breaks between 3 lbs. 11 oz. and 4 lbs. 9.9 oz. The pistol is fitted with walnut grips referred to as “dymondwood” by the manufacturer. The inside edges of the magwell are beveled to aid in quick mag changes. The XL-45 comes with one 8-round magazine manufactured by Mec-Gar, a company well-known for producing magazines for many different gun manufacturers, such as Beretta for example. The XL-45 is built to tight tolerances as exemplified by lack of side-to-side play between the slide and frame, commonly referred to as “GI wiggle”. The XL-45 should be very accurate right out of the box. As with any tight-fitting 1911, the XL-45 may need a few hundred rounds through before it can be considered broken in.
