MGM catalog included. This spectacular saddle is sterling silver beautifully hand engraved. It comes with provenance as being purchased at a David Weisz . The sale was marketed as ”Public of the Countless Treasures Acquired from MGM, Metro Goldwyn Mayer”. The sale was located in Beverly Hills, CA at the studios. The studio was having an to liquidate a large portion of it’s old, antique, and vintage movie props. The consignor states that her father bought the saddle and other props. He had his brother drive out to California to go to the to buy and bring back lots to Pennsylvania. She also states that this particular saddle was used by a well known movie star from the period of silent film and early films from the early period of Hollywood. His name was Tom Mix. He was considered the first western movie star he was born in Pennsylvania in 1880. He appeared in over 291 movies from 1909-1935 all but nine were silent films. Saddle was located in the family barn for about 50 years. Cleaned it up a bit, there are 2 pieces of silver missing on each fender. The seat measures 15 inches. A true piece of Western history.
