SN: 3070. 1946 Izhevsk-made M44 carbine. ""PW"" import mark. Non-matching Izhevsk bolt and floorplate. Metal in good condition. Stock has well-worn finish. Numerous cartouches including ""O"" in trapezoid, ""5"", ""37"" and ""39"" in rectangle, ""I"", ""Che"" and three different ""Sha"" characters in diamonds, an ""I"" and two ""Sha""s in one diamond, ""7"" and either ""A"" or ""De"" characters in circles, and the Izhevsk hammer and sickle in laurel stamp. Additionally, there is one round cartouche on the right side of the buttstock which is only half-visible. Certainly a rifle with a lengthy history prior to import!
