Description:
The M1903 Springfield Mark I rifle was designed with a left-side ejection port and a small amount of factory modification to the stock to accommodate the Pedersen device.  The Mark I was equipped with a standard M1903 bolt which could be removed and replaced with the Pederson device which would then allow the rifle to fire .30 Pedersen caliber pistol-type cartridges in the semi-automatic mode.  In all other respects, the M1903 Springfield Mark I rifle is identical to the standard 1903 Springfield rifle.  This rifle has what appears to period cleaning kit, if not the original, stored in its stock.  The kit has a clear plastic tube with screw-in caps on each end and a pull-through cord wrapped around a cleaning brush and an eyelet attachment for cleaning pads.  One of the caps has a thin stainless-steel oiler pin (2¾ inches long).  The year of manufacture of this rifle is 1919.  There are no papers or other accessories with this rifle.  The bolt, with extractor removed, passed a NO-GO headspace check.

The top of the, just behind the front sight, is stamped, “S A“ (presumably Springfield Armory).  Just below that is the Army ordinance bomb.  Below that is “12 – 19“ (presumable December 1919).  On the receiver, just behind the rear sight is stamped “U.S”(first line), SPRINGFIELD (second line), ARMORY (third line), MODEL 1903) (fourth line), MARK I (fifth line), and 1140951 (sixth line – serial number).

At some point, someone etched their driver’s license number - DL# 0733468 - on the left side of the receiver, just below the rear sight (over a little less than two inches.  Other than that, he overall condition of this gun is about 75 to 80 percent owing mostly to the condition of the wood.  The metal (receiver, operating handle, bolt, magazine floor, bayonet stud, barrel, sights, trigger, and trigger guard) is mid-90s percent condition, with no rust and very few mars.  The stock is dark with age and bears the dents, scratches, and mars of its 104 years of age.

The buyer pays $85 for USPS Priority mail and $25.50 for insurance and $15 for shipping the ammunition if desired.  Virginia buyers must pay 5.3% sales tax.

The fastest way to get this gun is to pay with USPS (U.S. Postal Service) money orders, as they are like cash.  I will ship the revolver immediately upon receipt of USPS money orders and an FFL.  I will also accept a personal check or other type money, as well as bank checks and cashier's checks, but I will hold the gun until it clears my bank; this includes bank checks and cashier’s checks.  I do not accept credit cards, debit cards, or PayPal.

Check or money order must be made out to Jerry Pownall or Barboursville Arms.
