Payment Types Accepted: Check or Money Orders Description: REDUCED $100,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,1809 dated US Springfield Model 1795 Type III Musket .70 caliber smoothbore. 45.125" round barrel secured by three flat spring-retained bands. SN: NSN. Bright finish, iron furniture, walnut stock. Single shot muzzleloading flintlock military musket. Lock VERY weakly marked US over a {Spread-Winged Eagle} over SPRINGFIELD in an upward arc. Tail of lock dated 1809 as is the buttplate tang. Breech with P / {Eagle Head} / V proof marks. No inspection marks are visible in the wood. The flat faceted lock is 6.5" in length with a pronounced teat at the rear and equipped with a removable bridled and fenced round bottom iron pan. The lock appears to be in its original flintlock configuration, although the hammer screw and possibly the frizzen are replaced. The touchhole shows some erosion but is properly angled, situated slightly forward of center and from endoscopic examination of the breech appears to be unmolested. An old iron front sight blade has been added where the original brass blade was located on the top strap of the upper barrel band. A lug for an angular socket bayonet is located 1.25" from the muzzle on the top of the barrel. A crude, likely period replaced, button head iron ramrod is in the channel under the barrel, it is slightly less than full length and does not have threads at the end. Both sling swivels are missing. An solid example of a War of 1812 period Springfield Model 1795 musket. Condition: Good. Bore fair, dark, heavily oxidized, dirty and rusty. I sprayed oil in barrel, should clean up better. Metal with a thickly oxidized brown patina and scattered surface roughness and some pitting. Breech area with moderate pitting and flash wear, showing some erosion of the metal. Markings on barrel clear, lock markings weak suggesting an old, somewhat aggressive cleaning. Lock is mechanically functional. Stock with moderate wear, sanded, showing numerous bumps, dings and mars. ....2nd firearm ships FREE with this one!...S/H $60....Thanks...Greg 536-542 Price: $2,395.00 Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Springfield Model: m1795 |
