Description:
“Made in America, or not made at all.” That’s Henry Repeating Firearms’ advertising slogan, and the high quality of their firearms illustrates this. The Henry rimfire line of lever action rifles traces its origins back to the Ithaca Model 72 lever gun. That rifle was made in West Germany between 1973 and 1978 under the Ithaca name. When Ithaca Gun Co. went into bankruptcy in 2005, Henry bought the rights to produce the Model 72 albeit under a different designation. Side by side, both rifles are hard to tell apart from one another. The Silver Eagle is built upon the excellent Golden Boy platform and weighs in at 6.75 lbs., about the weight of an average, un-scoped AR-15. It is based on the engraved scroll and sliver-plated Henry rifle, serial number 9, that was presented to US Secretary of the Navy Gideon Welles by the New Haven Arms Company. Welles served during Abraham Lincoln’s presidency and played an important part in the creation of the Navy’s Medal of Honor. The rifle features a beautiful nickel-plate receiver with extensive engraving, and a nice set of wood furniture made of American Walnut. The octagonal barrel is finished in a deep blue luster. As this Silver Eagle is chambered for the .22 Magnum, magazine capacity is 16 plus one in the chamber. Overall length is 39 inches. The sights are the classic buckhorn elevator rear and gold bead front sight. It is chambered for the classic .22 Magnum. This rifle is new in box. Henry rifles are well known for the smoothness of their actions and the Silver Eagle should be no exception.
