Javanese Keris (Kris) Dagger& Sheath
- Indonesian asymmetrical dagger
- Considered both weapon and spiritual object
- A distinctive blade-patterning achieved through alternating laminations of iron and nickelous iron (pamor)
- This blade is 14 3/4" length with 9 Luk (curves)
- A kris can be divided into three parts: blade (bilah or wilah), hilt (hulu or deder), and sheath (warangka)
- Both a weapon and a spiritual object, the kris is often considered to have an essence or presence and to possess magical powers
- The hilt is carved hardwood with two faces
- The sheath has hardwood and hammered metal with carved sulur floral motifs
- Knife fits in sheath perfectly
