This Austrian Model 1798 flintlock cavalry is rarely seen today. The overall length is approx. 17"". The approx. 9.75"" round 67 caliber smooth bore barrel has a fair dark bore with some roughness. With the exception of a 0 on the side plate and the issue number of 138 on the butt cap, the gun is unmarked. All the metal has a brown patina with areas of very light roughness. The brass nose cap, trigger guard, butt cap, and side plate are very good. The stock is very good with sharp edges, no chips or cracks, and light issue wear. The action functions correctly. This is a very good example of the Austrian Model 1798 flintlock pistol. It would fit any Austrian or European military flintlock pistol collection.
