INDIAN WARS SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1868 TRAPDOOR RIFLE W/BAYONET. 50-70 Govt. caliber 33” barrel. Extra fine condition and all original and complete. Lock dated 1863 and stamped “EAGLE/U.S./SPRINGFIELD”. Breech block dated 1870. Greying casehardened lock and hammer. Barrel with the original brushed metal finish. Has a nice original untouched attic patina on metal overall. Stock with the original finish and exceptionally crisp Ordnance Inspector’s cartoucheS (four in total). Matching serial numbers on barrel and receiver. Perfect working order and excellent plus bore. Original bayonet in excellent condition. Many of these saw service in the Indian Wars and it is known that Geronimo carried one of these. Superior example and reasonably priced.
