Description:
Nice original Oak case for an early breechloading 12-bore Purdey Sporting Gun #6572 , made in 1863, with 30" barrels. This gun was one of a pair (6572/3) and was likely an underlever-opening hammer gun with back action locks. The Original case lining shows wear with an obvious repair patch in the area where the action would have rested. The original Purdey Trade Label, with hand written notes, has as a bit of damage and is slightly faded but ledgible. The keyway escutcheon is missing and there has also been a good repair to the case lock mortise area.
