Description:
Ernst Kerner Double Rifle Drilling. This rifle takes a rare form. It is a double rifle with a shotgun below in a great caliber with British style and dimensions. The 7X65R is the rimmed version of the 7X64, one of my personal favorite rounds! This is essentially a .280 Remington for reference that pushes a 140-173 grain bullet around 3000fps. It was invented in 1917 by Wilhelm Brenneke and is mostly found in English and European bolt rifles as the 7X64, the rimmed version is for positive extraction with the same basic dimensions and perfomance. Double rifle drillings are generally known for being super accurate due to the rifle barrels being held in such a stable manner and this one is scoped for a longer reach. The action is a sculpted, low profile case colored action with strong colors, Open scroll engraving, disk set strikers on all three barrels, cocking indicators all three barrels, adjustable forward trigger, the rifle barrel is selected via the Greener safe style lever on the left side of the stock, Greener cross-bolt, ejectors on rifle barrels. The barrels are 65cm/25 1/2" with strong blue and a beautiful taper, 1 standing, small bead front sight, the scope mount is built into the top rib, double Purdey underbite, Nitro proofs and date code is October 1938, Bores and chambers are clean with strong rifling, shot barrel is clean with a bore diameter of .672 and full choke .039. The scope is a Zeiss Conquest 8X32 with clear optics in what look to be modern mounts, the rear mount is numbered to the gun. The Butt is an English straight hand with a splinter fore end, 14" length of pull to a horn plate, the chequering and finish are really strong and show no signs of having been redone, wood to metal fit is all still tight and level, the wood is high grade with lovely grain, a great rifle in every way.
