Description:
Charles Daly 12 Gauge Diamond Quality. The action is very clean with some case color remaining in protected areas. The engraving is near full coverage tight and open scroll with very well done and defined bird dogs inside and oval on the floorplate, the engraving follows onto the trigger guard with mallards in flight inside an oval on the guard, engraved barrel breeches, top lever and furniture. The single trigger is a factory selectable that functions well, tight on face, Greener cross-bolt, cocking indicators, scalloped action. The barrels are 32" with ovals denoting "Roechling Special Steel" on the top, Charles Daly Diamond Quality on the rib, Date code on the bottom of the right barrel indicates November 1930 Manufacture, Proofs are Nitro with 70mm or 2 3/4" chambers and 13/1 12 gauge proof for diameters. The current measurements show the barrels to be in proof at .722 Right and .723 Left, 2 3/4" chambers both, chokes will shoot as American Full/Full, exact measurements- .037 Right and .038 Left, Both barrels are marked under the fore end with the Roechling trademark. The stocks are a period style raised comb and beaver-tail that look to be original to the gun. The finish and chequering are in good to fine condition with only light handling marks, chequered panels behind the action, length of pull is 14" to a Silvers pad. This stock has high modern dimensions, 1 1/2" drop at comb and 2 1/4" drop at heel with no cast. This gun shoulders and balances like a modern gun with great balance. 7lbs 5oz.
