German Wheelock Rifle manufactured approximately 1680-1700. Barrel length 31"" and overall length 45"". Bore is about 65 caliber. Engraved lock depicts scene with hunters on horseback chasing a stag. The dog (pivoting arm that holds the iron pyrites) is also engraved with a hunter and his dog. The stock is carved and also checkered. The mounts or furniture are of inlaid brass as is the norm for this period of manufacture. Gun functions perfectly and overall condition is very good.
