Description: Marlin Model 1889 lever action carbine in 44-40 caliber. The rifle features a 20" round barrel, full size tube magazine, saddle ring affixed to the left side of receiver, replacement rear tang ladder sight and the special carbine style buttplate. The receiver has been engraved with the word "OSAGE" and is said to have come from the Osage Reservation in Oklahoma. The initials G M have been carved into the right side of the stock. There is a slight barrel bulge in front of the barrel markings and a replacement blade has been inset into the front sight. Of the 20,934 Model 1889 rifles made, only 8,685 were made in a carbine length. Serial #31313. Manufactured 1890.
