Description:
A "paradox" indeed! Beautifully engraved English made best sidelock ejector with Brazier intercepting sear lockwork, action/forend sn 266 without proof marks; stocked in English walnut for a left handed shooter LOP 14" thru spurred and serrated horn buttplate, with an (non-original) French Bretelle retracting sling; fitted with a set of 26"x2 1/2" Belgian proofed paradox (post 1950 CH B RAYE) barrels .729/~.700 both, also marked "G.V. FOSBURY'S PATENT" (sic) with a 2 position rear sight (for shot and ball use) in a leather J BENET & FILS/BRUXELLES case with vintage brass rod, brushes and silvered oil bottle. Marked on action and barrels "MAPKA" in cyrillic. Barrels were made after 1950. It appears this gun was made in England as a 12ga shotgun, looks like a Dickson gun with impeccable action fitting and finish, for Belgian delivery, later rebarreled in Belgium as a correct Fosbery paradox using the original ribs and extension.
