Description:
This listing is for a US Model M1 bayonet manufactured during WW2 by the Union Fork & Hoe Company. The bayonet is in unissued condition, still in light cosmoline. The only wear on the blade is from sliding it in and out of the scabbard. There is a small amout of finish wear on the crossguard. The plastic grips are in good condition with a couple of dings but no cracks. There is a place that looks like a chip on the bottom of one panel at the pommel, but I believe it is actually part of the grinding when the grips were fit to the bayonet. The bayonet is cased in an unused green fiberglass scabbard which is marked HTK with a crown over the letters. If my information is correct, the scabbard is of Danish manufacture. I believe this would make one of the bayonets that went to Denmark with our M1 Garand rifles after WW2 and was later returned to the US. I have had this bayonet for several years and do not remember if it came from CMP or another source. This is a very nice bayonet with a good story of how manufacturers of other items stepped up to make things needed for the war effort during WW2.
