The barrel tang, lock and hammer are smooth with much of their color finish. The German silver nosecap, escutcheons, trigger guard, butt plate, and blank oval escutcheon on the left flat are fine. The stock, which is checkered at the wrist, is very fine with sharp edges and no chips or cracks. The barrel has a filled dovetail 14" from the muzzle. The sights are more modern replacements. The lock is marked “A. Wurfflein/ Phila." The action functions correctly. Andrew Wurfflein operated from circa 1835-1871. He is known for Deringer type percussion pistols and percussion rifles.
