Description:
The Ruger LC Carbine was introduced in 2022 and is very much a pistol-caliber carbine like its cousin the PC Carbine. After the success of the Ruger-5.7 pistol, Ruger decided to go all out and introduce a 16” barreled rifle built around the 5.7x28 cartridge. The 5.7x28 is an excellent cartridge and bridges the gap between 22 Magnum and the .223 Remington/5.56mm NATO cartridges. It is very effective against varmints and coyote. While AR-based rifles and the PS90 have already existed before, the LC Carbine has a few advantages working in its favor. The first is that almost all the AR-based rifles were essentially conversion kits for an AR rifle. They also generally required the use of the FN PS90’s 50-round magazine. The PS90 itself is an excellent rifle but is essentially built with tactical use in mind, just like its military counterpart the P90 sub machine gun and does not easily lend itself well to other uses. The LC Carbine was designed to fulfill a variety of roles such as tactical rifle, truck gun, varmint hunting rifle, light ranch rifle, and plinking gun. The LC offers a large number of desirable features. At a weight of only 5.9 lbs., the LC carbine is light allowing for easy carrying over long distances and quick maneuvering to engage multiple targets at closer ranges. Despite this light weight, the LC Carbine has nearly unnoticeable recoil. Like the Ruger-5.7, the LC Carbine has excellent ergonomics built around an easy-to-reach trigger, a 1911-style ambidextrous safety, a small but easy-to-use slide release, and a reversible magazine latch. The rifle uses a unique bolt-over-barrel design to operate. The LC has a 16.25” fluted, nitride-treated barrel for strength, accuracy, and a long lifespan. The muzzle is threaded with the usual ½”-28 TPI, allowing the rifle to mount a wide variety of popular accessories. The stock can be folded for ease of transport and is adjustable for length of pull. The 20-round magazines are made of steel rather than polymer to provide a high capacity without too much bulk. For improved safety, the LC Carbine makes use of Ruger’s Secure Action™ fire-control system which combines a protected internal hammer with a bladed-safety trigger. The trigger is designed to have a smooth pull with a clean break and a positive reset. The CNC-milled handguard features M-LOK accessory attachment slots and is finished with a Type III hard-coat anodized finish for high resistance to the elements. Sighting is done via Ruger’s Rapid Deploy folding sights which can be adjusted for both windage and elevation. The long picatinny rail up top allows for the fitting of a nice optic. Overall, the LC Carbine is an excellent light rifle suitable for a wide range of tasks. This brand new carbine comes with the factory box, paperwork, and one 20-round magazine.
