Description:
Got an U.S. Aston Contract Model 1842 Percussion Pistol Dated 1850 for sale.

In the pictures we tried to get as close as possible and show every makers mark, cartouche and stamp, flaw, ding and imperfection we could find.

Manufactured on contract by Henry Aston & Co. of Middletown, Connecticut. The lock is marked "MIDDTN/CONN/1850" behind the hammer and "US/ASTON" ahead of the hammer. The rear of the barrel is stamped just cannot make it out other than a "J.H." on the flat with a "G.W." on the round and the date "1850" on the barrel tang. Brass furniture with an iron button head swivel ramrod. The stock has two inspector cartouches on the left flat, as shown in the pictures.  .All brass mountings, brass front sight , brass butt and trigger guard. Butt has a few  dings (see  photo). Remember, this was a single shot so if there was not time to reload, the soldier would use it as a club. There is a captive or swivel ramrod. The lock, hammer, trigger and all screws are visible.  The wood is in fine condition.   Pistol functions.   Hammer drops and did NOT drop it without a pad over the percussion port.

The pictures show condition as best we can.  We tried to get pictures of every flaw, mark, ding, makers mark or whatever we could find.  We can only post 25.   If you want more, please email.   Just be patient as our internet connection in the country is slow.

The item you see in the pictures is the one you receive.

Look closely at the pictures as what you see in what you get.

This came from the estate of an FFL/SOT Gun Smith, Gun Store that is out of business.  This is or was inventory.   The estate also was an avid collector of all types.   Please check the pictures to check condition.   There will be countless other listings from this inventory over the next 4 to 5 years.   We are selling for the store. Please check our other listings for the items.
