Description:
It may be the first or it may be number 12,,but that's close enough!  This is an original Holless Wilbur Allen manufactured Compound Bow, from the first dozen manufactured by him for commercial sale.  Allen is the father of the Compound Bow.  He invented it in 1965 and applied for a patent in 1966.  He presented his invention to the archery industry and nobody had an interest in licensing, so in 1967 he decided to make the first run of bows for commercial sales.  This bow is one of the first dozen bows manufactured and sold by Allen.  We have the bow in its original cardboard box with shipping label, and postmark date.  It is an iconic bow and one that transformed the entire archery industry - ten years after his patent was issued over 70% of all bows manufactured were compound bows.  Allens original quest to achieve faster arrow speed for deer hunting resulted in an invention that completely transformed the archery industry.  Allen is to the sport of archery what Sam Colt is to firearms.  This bow belongs in a museum.
