BURNSIDE MODEL OF 1864 SADDLE RING CARBINE

The Burnside carbine was commonly used in the Civil War. They were produced 1858 to 1870. Less than 100,000 were produced.The primary designer was General Ambrose Burnside. The Burnside was manufactured in Providence, Rhode Island and purchased by the Federal government for issue to its cavalry regiments.

This US Burnside Rifle Co Model of 1864 .54 caliber breech loading percussion saddle ring carbine features:
  • Top of breech marked Burnside Patent Model of 1864. 
  • Two cartouches on left side of stock grip.
  • Barrel 90% finish. Reciever near all gray patina.
  • Wood stock.
  • Caliber: 54
  • Barrel Length: 21"
  • Serial Number: 17175, numbers match.
  • Barrel blued with very nice riflings and grooves.
Condition: Overall good. Dark patina with minor oxidation on. metal work. Moderate wear and stock condition shows normal use. Bore has very good rifling. Mechanically very good. Fully functional.

Status: Antique
