Full custom 257 Roberts built on the highly desirable Peruvian Mauser action. The action has been upgraded with Gentry bolt shroud with 3 position safety, Tally bolt handle, knob two paneled checkering with pin stripe by Charity Littleton. 09 Muaser bottom metal, box shortened to fit the action, serrated Wisner floorplate release. Blind rear guard screw. Oregunsmithing cut rifled barrel,24", 1-10" twist, chambered in 257 Roberts. Action is drilled and tapped for Redfield two piece bases. jeweled bolt and folower.
The stock appears to be California English Walnut with good color and mineral streaks. Classic style with cheekpiece, Ebony forend tip, Four panel point pattern checkering, Jerry Fisher single screw pistol grip cap.Neidner style checkered steel buttplate, 13 1/2" LOP. Sling eyes on stock.
Finished weight 8 lbs 12 oz with scope shown. Scope is NOT included. If buyer desires I will purchase at dealer cost, his choice of scope, install and sight in.Buyer is charged only the scope cost.
HISTORY: This rifle was built many years ago with a Bill Hobaugh barrel, 23 caliber, and chambered in 234 RCBS. Joe E. Keller made the stock. The barrel was sent to Oregunsmithing for reboring and rifling to 25 cal, 1-10" twist. I set the barrel back enough to index the old caliber below the stock line and opened the chamber to 257 Roberts. The stock was reshaped, hand rubbed linseed oil finished and checkered. The other upgrades are listed in the description. All metal prep is done by hand, then sent to Bedeaux Gun Shop in Albuquerque for hot dip bluing. All metal parts including scope mounts are matching blue.
