Description:
This fabulous pair of A. Waters pistols each dated 1843 with their pommel holster came from a family up north that have had them since day one, and most likely were takne to Mexico during the Mexican War starting in 1845. Both pistols are exceptional condition, with clear markings on the barrel U.S. NWP and P, and the lockplates and hammer still have much of their dull armory blue. The American walnut stocks are very clean, with no breaks and each have stamped opposite the lockplate two oval proof marks as seen in the photos. Trigger guard and side plate all have inspector marks. The pommel leather holsters may have had a connecting piece and flaps as well as cartridge holders and are incomplete in that nature, but the bodies are whole. Rare to find an early martial brace in this condition for early guns.,
