RARE REVOLUTIONARY WAR ERA DUTCH FLINTLOCK OFFICER’S HOLSTER PISTOL BY JOHANN JACOB BEHR OF MAASTRICHT CIRCA EARLY-MID 1700’S. Type of large size mounted Officer’s pistol in use in the former Dutch colony of New Amsterdam and thereafter in the American Revolutionary War era. 20 ½” o/a with 13 ½” smoothbore .60 cal. barrel. By one of the best known Dutch makers and signed on the lock plate with his name forward of the hammer “I. I. BER. Engraved brass mounts and finely carved walnut stock all in excellent 100% original condition. Original flint with all the original lock parts down to the last screw. Lock in working order and excellent bore. Very similar examples pictured in Warren Moore’s book ‘WEAPONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION” pages 50-52. Extra nice all original example.
