This National Match 1903, manufactured in January 1938 remains in excellent condition. All numbered parts are matching. The serial Number is electro penciled in the correct manner oknthe bolt that is left in the white by the factory. The serial number is also stamped correctly ahead of the rear sling swivel, as well as the Number D-1836 directly ahead. The C type stock also has a strong Cirle P cartouche and the inspector Stamp cartouche of S.A.S.P.G. surrounded by a box directory behind the magazine cutoff. The large gas relief hole on the left side of the receiver indicates that the rifle would have been refurbished at Springfield Armory after use in the matches in 1940, at that time they added the hole to increase shooter safety.
It has the correct National Match Rear sight graduated from 3-2700 yard, the 2800 yard markings were omitted on these. It also has a Lyman 48 peep sight. Of special note it has the hard to find P.J.O'Hare sight covers.
The rifle retains better than 95% of its Original finish.
