Browning Superposed Pointer Grade 20 gauge 2-barrel set.
The Pointer Grade has become one of the collecting gems for Browning collectors. It fell between the Pigeon and the Diana but during its tenure was never very popular so not a lot of Pointers were made compared to the others. This Pointer was engraved by well-known Browning engraver, F. Marechal and it is a factory special ordered two-barrel set. 28” M/F and 26 ½” IC/M
The Butt stock has a 14 1/8” LOP to the butt plate, special order 1 5/16” DAC & 2 1/8” DAH with neutral to a very slight left-hand cast (less than 1/8”).
It comes cased in a correct period Airways made Browning luggage case.
Handsomely grained walnut stock and matching forearms. Made in 1970 at the end of the so called “salt” era and during a time of transition at Browning, so the stock features a flat knob pistol grip with a short trigger guard tang. Together both items were only available for a couple of years. Not to be concerned as this is an absolutely “salt” free gun; as it was completely factory restored by Browning many years ago.
Weight is 6 lbs. 1 oz. with the 28” barrels and about 2 oz. less with the 26 1/2” barrels. Mechanically perfect and the gun retains 98%+ original finishes.
