Description:
***   SOLD   ***   Great handling Joseph Lang 20 bore back action hammergun with 30” nitro steel barrels and proofed for 2-3/4” chambers. Lang no. 6239 was made in 1882. It has peninsula-style locks, double triggers, extractors, and rebounding medium height hammers. Nicely engraved action body, lock plates and hammers. Some residual case coloring. Cased in a canvas and leather case with snap caps and it even has a key! Weighs 6lb 4oz.   ***   The 30” sleeved nitro steel barrels have 2-3/4” chambers. It was London proofed in 2004. They are topped by a raised solid concave tapered gamestyle rib which is inscribed “Jos. Lang & Sons. 22 Cockspur Street London”. The right barrel is bored 0.610 with a constriction 0.006 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness 0.039. The left barrel is bored 0.611 and has a constriction of 0.012 for Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.038.   ***   The straighthand stock and splinter forearm are made of nicely figured straight grain European walnut. Checkering has been refreshed and is crisp. Stock dimensions are 14-1/2” including 3/4” leather covered recoil pad by 1-1/2” by 2”.   ***   I cannot emphasize enough how well this 20 bore swings and handles. It will be a delight afield and at the range. British small bores are rare. Those with long barrels and long length of pull are even more so. Won’t last long.  ***   Please note that the photographs are part of the description. Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period which begins when it arrives at the buyer’s FFL or specified address if the gun is classified as an Antique. Returns at buyer’s expense.
