The G45 is essentially a G19X altered to match the standard pistols in the Glock, at least visually. Physically and mechanically, the G45 is still a G19X. The Glock G19X in 9mm has become one of the most popular Glock models in recent years thanks to its involvement in the U.S. Army’s pistol trials, and because it represents the best combination between the G17 and standard G19. It is a G19 slide paired with a slightly modified G17 frame. With the full-size grip and relatively short barrel, the G19X and G45 both are very well-balanced pistols. One thing that separates the G19X from all other Glocks is its coyote tan nPVD finish. However, rather than simply produce a G19X-marked pistol with a matte black finish, Glock chose to go ahead and give the pistol a new model number, in this case G45. Although not labeled as such, the G45 is a Gen 5 pistol in all but name. With the Gen 5, additional features have been added over previous gens. These include the Glock Marksman Barrel (GMB) with improved polygonal rifling and target barrel crown, ambidextrous slide stop levers, no finger grooves on the grip frame, and the new nDLC finish. This finish is used on other Gen 5 pistols and is more durable than the finish used on previous generations of Glock pistols. In addition, this is the MOS version, which allows for the mounting of a red dot optic. This is useful for quick sighting in on the target during an emergency situation. This can apply to both home defense and backpacking in the woods. A full MOS Adapter Set # 01 is included. The G45 shown here is brand new in the box and ready to go. Included with the gun and box are the manual, three 17-round magazines, a Glock magazine loading tool, alternate back straps, and cleaning brush and rod. The pistol will fit any standard G19 or G19X holster. Although generally considered to be oversized for conceal carry duty in a world of micro-compacts, the G45 is fully capable of being used as a CCW. It should be remembered that even the venerable 1911 pistol was used, even at full size, as a CCW in the past thanks to its firepower compared to the then existent carry pistols, the majority of which were chambered for the weaker .32 And .380 ACP cartridges. The G45 certainly brings its fair share of firepower to the table. Otherwise, if you are looking for a new duty pistol or a home defense gun, the G45 MOS is an excellent choice.
