Description:
Another interesting, composit , ugly duckling 19th century percussion single shot pistol with a 12 1/2" Naval long barrel of about .58 cal, and a lug under the muzzle for what was once a captured ram-rod. The lock working lockplate looks like it came from a single shot musket or double barrel shotgun, with chisel engraving and markings of *********Extra. Lock works good and at half cock, and a newer nipple. Breech of the barrel has an indent like an American captured back strap of martial pistol of the mid-19th centuryi. And there are a round hole and square hole on the lower backstrap for a stock attachment. Wood is 19th century and old, not recent. Brass furniture is a nice mustard yellow.. This is a Civil War bring home pistol that was put together when the war started and there was a shortage of guns!
