Description:
44 Henry RF. 20" round barrel. SN: 15176 (mfg. ca1867). Blued barrel and magazine tube, silver plated brass frame and buttplate, color casehardened lever and hammer, walnut stock and forend. Lever action tubular magazine fed metallic cartridge repeating carbine. Barrel marked in two lines forward of the rear sight: HENRY'S PATENT OCT. 18, 1860 / KING'S PATENT MARCH 29, 1866. Carbine is mounted with the typical saddle ring in the frame secured by a U-shaped staple, sling swivels in the toe of the stock and on the lower barrel band and with an old replaced fixed buckhorn rear sight in the sight mortise. The front sight is the standard blade found on the carbine's front barrel band. Lever lock remains in place. An original set of Winchester three-piece cleaning rods is present in the butt of the carbine. A well used Second Model 1866 Saddle Ring Carbine with an uncommon silvered finish and lots of character in its overall appearance. Bore about good as well with visible rifling, moderate pitting and heavy oxidation. Barrel markings remain legible. Brass frame and buttplate with strong traces of a heavily tarnished period silver finish. Mechanically functional action.
