Description:
About .40 cal., with a 32 1/2” octagon barrel with strong rifling and oxidized bore. This rifle was converted using the drum and nipple method. The metal surfaces are an overall dark brown patina with patches of pale gray, scattered light oxidation, tiny impact marks and wear along the edges. Lock marked Warrantded and name is Mc***** can;t read it.There is a pewter nosecap, brass triggerguard, decorative pierced patchbox, buttplate and toeplate; the brass muting to a bright ocher patina with light tarnish and verdigris forming inside the patchbox. The tiger maple stock remains in good condition showing an old cleaning with light handling marks, a 3” crack at the left forend behind the nosecap bit not open, and spots of dried added finish. Rifle is sighted with a simple brass blade front sight and fixed v-notch rear sight. The action was made without a half cock , and what appears to be a proper wooden ramrod is present
