Nice Colt Lightning Medium Frame Lightning Rifle in Caliber 38-40 with its original Ideal Combination Reloading Tool & Bullet Mold with Rare Original Box with the illustration of the Colt Lightning Magazine Rifle on the lid. Antique Serial number is in the 83,000 Range which dates this Rifle to 1898 Production. One of the last ones made that qualifies as Antique. Standard 26" Octagon Barrel, Full Magazine, and Crescent Rifle Buttplate. It has the correct later style smooth forend with borderlines and no checkering. Overall Condition Grades to NRA Antique Fine with fading original blue mixed with a mostly smooth deep brown patina. The wood is in Fine Condition with just a few handling marks. Good to Very Good Bore and the Action works and still locks correctly when the action has been cycled. Nice markings throughout including the Colt Rampant Horse on the left side of the receiver. The Ideal Tool is in Excellent Condition while the box is a little tattered and only in fair condition. I've only seen a couple of these boxes with the Colt Lightning on the lid including one in .45 Colt for the Single Action Army which was a little strange. Antique, Made before Jan. 1, 1899 and qualifies as an Antique under Federal Law however some states and cities may have stricter laws in place. NJ will require and FFL.
