Made in 1846 by N.P. Ames Co. Cabotville, Mass.  Curved blade is 35.25"" in length with 25.75"" fuller. Blade has a dark brown/grey patina with minor nicks noted along the edge. Ricasso is marked ""US/JCR"" opposite side marked ""N.P. AMES/CABOTVILLE/1845"". Hilt is a single brass knuckle guard ending to a rounded quillion. Wooden grip has a crack from the guard to the Phrygian pommel. Sword could have possibly used during the Mexican American War.
