Description:
With a caliber of .60 cal, 11 5/8” barrel with an oxidized bore. This pistol is equipped with Patilla style lock and the barrel is rather nicely embellished in near full coverage with deep relief game dog and bird scenes and people in traditional dress. The lock and barrel show silvering along the high edges mostly toned to a medium gray-brown patina with some sparse pinprick pitting and mild oxidation staining. The initials “MP” are lightly scratched along the bow of the triggerguard which is a rather simple strip of bent iron nailed to the body proper. The stock features the familiar brass cladding that shows the expected scattered dings and dents, toning to a mild ocher patina. The stock features light foliate embellishments and reptilian-like motifs along the backstrap. The frizzen spring is weak and the lock otherwise seems to function normally. The frizzen showers profuse sparks into the pan..A rather nice example with interesting barrel motifs. Often used by Barbaery pirates as early as the 18th century.
