This is a scarce Belgian Army contract Colt 1903 made in 1915, that retains 99% plus of its original high polish blue and come with its original box and paperwork. Belgian army contract guns are extremely hard to find in US but there were a few hundred guns that were never delivered to Belgium and were later sold on the commercial market. Belgian contract Colt 1903 pistols had a very specific proofmark with a letter A inside a diamond on the left side of the frame. That is the only distinguishing characteristic of these uncommon guns. This particular gun is in near new condition with just a few tiny spots of discoloration on top of the slide and on the bottom of the trigger guard. The blueing is deep and lustrous with no defects. This is a complete set that included a matching serial number box in fantastic shape, a hang tag, a manual, a shooting suggestions card and a rare period brochure with shooting suggestions that is a rarity in itself. The accompanying Colt factory letter shows a delivery to Iver Johnson Sporting Goods in Boston in 1916.
This is just an incredible collector grade set that cannot be upgraded.
