Description:
This is a brand-new Generation 4 Glock 17. The Glock 17 was originally introduced in 1982. Contrary to popular belief, the G17 is not the first polymer-framed pistol ever made. That title belongs to the Heckler & Koch VP70 pistol. It would be more accurate to say the Glock 17 was the first polymer-framed pistol to achieve widespread popularity. One notable advantage of the G17 over its competitors at the time was its high magazine capacity. The pistol holds 17 rounds in the mag plus one in the chamber, except for those intended for sale in states which restrict magazine capacity, which hold 10 rounds plus one. It should be remembered that most pistols at that time, the Beretta 92 being a good example, held at most 15 rounds in the magazine. Only the earlier VP70 held more (18). The Glock pistol’s success lies in the basic design of the pistol. The design used the minimum number of parts necessary to function, was simple and easy to disassemble, clean, and reassemble, and was reliable in some of the most difficult conditions possible. The Glock’s basic design inspired that of many of the pistol’s current competitors. The Glock 17 design has been revised a few times over the last 41 years, though it still retains most of its original appearance. The Gen 4 version for the 17 differed from the earlier Gen 3 mainly in the larger cutout for the guide rod at the front of the slide, the stippling patterns on the grip, and the enlarged magazine release button. This example features a special slide that is engraved on both sides. It is officially labeled “DLC Engraved Scrollwork.” It has a nice look to, blending modern and old together in a unique way. The pistol comes with the Glock box, 2 spare 17-round magazines for a total of 3, alternate back strap options, a mag loading tool, manual, and cleaning rod and brush.
