This is an exceptional example of a Smith&Wesson 1917 commercial revolver, chambered in .45, in 99% plus mint original condition, in its original box, as shipped to Los Angeles Police Department in 1929!
The gun is near new with just a light cylinder ring and a few tiny spots of "box wear" as pictured. The high gloss prewar blue is gorgeous and near perfect with no dulling, patination or pitting. The gun looks like it left the factory yesterday and comes with an original box, serialized to the gun. Perfect bore and stunning original grips. The end label is fully intact. There is some minor edge wear to the box. An accompanying factory letter shows that the gun was shipped to LAPD in 1929 in a shipment of 25 guns. Only about 2000 of commercial M1917 revolvers were made in total.
A wonderful all original set with LAPD provenance that is impossible to upgrade.
