Description:
An  antique National Arms Company No. 2 Deringer made circa 1865 , and later in Brooklyn, New York. Only about 12,000 of these were made by National Arms before the company was purchased Colt.
This scarce little Deringer is chambered for a single shot of .41 rimfire, a likely choice for very concealable self-defense in the last half of the 19th Century. . The hamme spur is split and acts as the rear sight when in full cock. It is of historical firearms significance in that it was one of the first large caliber metallic cartridge Deringers.Button the on the right side pushes forward after the hammer is cocked and the barrel swings out. In fact, after Moore’s was purchased by the National Arms Co., the Colt Firearms Co. bought National Arms and started making the pistol in 1870!  The overall condition is very . In the grey finish and patina. Strong action. The bore has visible rifloing and patches of corrosion,  for its age. Both American walnut grips,  with  light handling wear. No number or markings, usually found on guns produced at the end of production. When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith  before  shooting.
