Description:
.A very fine hand crafter and hand made flintlock pistol, with a caliber of 58 cal,and a 9” round barrel with a bright very good smoothbore. The metal surfaces of this unmarked pistol retain approximately 85% original brown finish showing pitting and oxidation along most of the barrel and lockplate and typical operational wear on the bridled frizzen. This pistol is equipped with a pierced cock and fixed notch rear sight and blade front sight. The buttcap, triggerguard, thimble, and sideplate are all brass and rate very good remaining mostly bright and showing some scattered handling marks and light clouding throughout, with the buttcap itself showing a few deeper divots on the right side. The lovely flame-figured hardwood stock rates very good showing only a few light handling marks and a hardwood ramrod is included, and this pistol appears to function well mechanically, and the frizzen showers profuse sparks.This fine gun looks like the workmanship pf Leonard Day of Norhthampton, Mass and came from that area!.
