"Winchester 1885 .32-20 caliber rifle. Made in 1898. Has a 36" long barrel; this was the longest Winchester offered. Barrel has excellent original blue rating at 97%. Barrel is a number 3 heavy barrel. Frame has 60% of the case colors with the remainder turning to a nice silvery patina. Wood is excellent. Front sight is a globe and this gun has a tang peep sight. Bore is excellent. This gun letters as a 30" barrel #3 in 22 L.R. Interestingly, this gun was returned for repair the same day it left the factory. This leads us to believe that this gun was changed immediately as this is all Winchester Factory work and all original. This gun comes out of the Louis Yearout collection. Mr. Yearout was a very well-known and astute collector who specialized in the Winchester 1885 model and had one of the largest if not the very largest collection of 1885’s. Very fine rare gun!!
