Description:
C.S. etched on Blade, Has Brass Grip and Guard cast in two pieces, with a copper scabbard. Purchased over 20 years ago at the Nashville Tenn. Show.  (Fairgrounds) I was set up at the show and this was a walk in. From a family estate. I have been collecting Civil War Items since 1978 and never have I saw another like this. This is a rare (Possibly One of a Kind). I have only seen products of  Cook and Brother with all brass grips and guards. (Has not been identified as such just an observation.)  Typical Confederate blade that appears to be hammered with flaws in the blade. There is a C S on the blade not quiet halfway down the blade. it is well worn but can be seen in photos, Photo 2, taken 5 feet from sword you are able to see the C S  if inlarged can be seen C S is seen just below the C S frame buckle,  9 and photo 15 if inlarged just at the hanger right. appears only on one side not sure if it was on both sides. as the blade has much use and wear. The blade may have been polished or deeply cleaned at some point but very long ago. in the right light in photo 2 it appears to have been etched on most of the blade but I can not clearly see or make out. Has no maker marks anywhere. The scabbard is made of copper, at one time appears to have been brass platted. Beautiful deep patina on the Scabbard. This is a great sword to display. Please feel free to ask questions.  Recently I received an offer from a well know sword dealer of $2800.00 for this sword I declined. I will give a copy of offer from this dealer to the buyer. This sword is worth the asking price as the dealer would not have offfered $2800.00 if he did not expect to at least double his purchase.   Note, I give a 3 day inspection period, once buyer receives item, I must be informed in the 3 day inspection period of intent to return.  if returned I must receive it as Shipped and received by the buyer.  as seen in photos above. I must receive payment within 2 days of purchase, buyer pays shipping and insurance.Note I just sold a bowie the insurance on $4000.00 was 75.00 alone please keep that in mind. I wilI accept PayPal Payment or A Bank Cashiers Check. I normally ship Priority mail next day after payment is received.  If returned must be Priority Shipped. and insured, will consider Internationl buyer however I will not deflate purshase price for customs. Thanks for looking.
