Description:
Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are rightfully proud to offer this stunning Smith model 1917 decked out in very intricate engraving by James Demunck. It is no secret that I believe that Mr. Demunck is one of the finest master engravers that I have witnessed. His work, perhaps best known by his engraving on CSMC shotguns, is very detailed and intricate. When you put a magnifying glass to many of the big name engravers' work, you can literally see that they used a hammer and chisel to cut the engraving. The engraving on this gun is much more refined. Oak leaves always look good on a firearm, and this wheel gun is no exception. S&W made the 1917 as a backup for the model 1911 our troops used in the first world war, chambered in .45 ACP. This particular revolver was made in the year of our Lord 1918. Despite being 105 years old, this is one fine looking weapon. The lustrous blue is offset by nickel plating found on the cylinder, hammer, trigger, cylinder release, lanyard ring, and ejector rod. All finishes are in very good condition, including the smooth walnut grips. These early revolvers were well made, with fine details, such as the bead blasted matted top strap, and the checkered backstrap. The action is tight and smooth, and the bore of the classic 6 1/2 inch barrel is gleaming. The masterful engraving, of course, is the highlight to this eyecatching Smith. My photos cannot capture the true detail, but you will marvel at the artist's talent when the gun is in hand. The wood case is in fairly good condition, with some wear to the lining. 12 dummy rounds and 4 half moon clips are included. If you have been looking for the right engraved firearm to collect, or for investment, but you want something no one else has, then look no further.
