The exterior construction is whitewashed canvas with a symmetrical oval brim and white pugaree. The exterior cloth is in fine shape although there are some minor flaking of the whitewash throughout. The interior has a lightly damaged dark green cloth lining and an intact leather comfort band maker marked, "J. Daniels & Co. Ltd./WOOLWHICH/CHATHAM/& 62 PALL MALL, S.W. 1". The lining of the crown is in excellent shape and the size sticker is still in place ("6 5/8") and the vacant chinstrap hooks are both still securely fixed. This is an excellent World War II era helmet and would make a fine example for a collection. {Ref. "Military Sun Helmets of the World" by Suciu and Bates; 2009} Price: $125.00 |
