Description:
This is an original, appears unissued WWII U.S. M7 rubberized Army assault gas mask bag, as worn by Allied servicemen during D-Day and other amphibious invasions. This particular example is ink stamped size "U", for "universal". The rubberized canvas remains excellent condition, quite soft and pliable, the straps are intact, one strap having lettering and all the hardware functions properly. These assault bags were worn on the chests of soldiers and were strapped to the leg of paratroopers. The air inside the waterproof bag made the carrier float which helped save the lives of soldiers that were dropped into deep water during the invasion.
