I have a Colt SAA 1st generation 5 1/2 in 44/40 that was manufactured in 1901 which originally lettered as a 45 Colt. This Colt is a very nice example of a single action. The Colt was manufactured in 1901 and shipped In February of the same year. At some point it was sent back to the factory for a caliber change and possibly refinished. It has the common 6 pointed star with 3 digits stamped under the barrel. I confirmed with Colt Archives directly and they confirmed that the markings are correct for returning to the factory for upgrades. The finish on the gun is a dull finish, but is even throughout. All of the markings are super strong and very visible. The serial numbers are matching. The grips are updated to a Ivory "like" style and fit extremely well. The bore is a strong 9/10 and would be great for shooting. Includes Colt letter.
