Description:
This is a 12 gauge tong tool for de and recapping Berdan primed shot shells. It is clearly marked for 12 GA. No maker’s name but no doubt made by Remington or B.G.I.. Similar tools are referenced in "Cartridge Reloading tools fo the Past" by R.H. Chamberlain and Tom Quigley which identifies that patent date at 1875. The tool was once coated with gold paint and traces of it are still visible with the handle retaining some protected areas of the original nickel plating. The wood handle is in good condition with a brass retaining cap that is split along one side. The adjustable chisel is frozen but may loosen with penetrating oil. A great tool harkening back to the early days of shotgun shell reloading. Please see the photographs for further information on condition.;
